Scriptures on Pride:

Proverbs 11:2 - [When] pride cometh, then cometh shame: but with the lowly [is] wisdom. Proverbs 16:5 - Every one [that is] proud in heart [is] an abomination to the LORD: [though] hand [join] in hand, he shall not be unpunished. Proverbs 29:23 - A man's pride shall bring him low: but honour shall uphold the humble in spirit. Proverbs 16:18 - Pride [goeth] before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Galatians 6:3 - For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself. James 4:6 - But he giveth more grace. Wherefore he saith, God resisteth the proud, but giveth grace unto the humble. Proverbs 27:2 - Let another man praise thee, and not thine own mouth; a stranger, and not thine own lips. Proverbs 26:12 - Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? [there is] more hope of a fool than of him. Philippians 2:3 - [Let] nothing [be done] through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves. Proverbs 8:13 - The fear of the LORD [is] to hate evil: pride, and arrogancy, and the evil way, and the froward mouth, do I hate. Jeremiah 9:23 - Thus saith the LORD, Let not the wise [man] glory in his wisdom, neither let the mighty [man] glory in his might, let not the rich [man] glory in his riches: 1 John 2:16 - For all that [is] in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world.

1 Tim 3:6 - Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

Proverbs 29:23 ESV- One's pride will bring him low, but he who is lowly in spirit will obtain honor.

James 4:6 ESV- But he gives more grace. Therefore it says, “God opposes the proud, but gives grace to the humble.”

1 John 2:16 ESV- For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world.

Philippians 2:3 ESV- Do nothing from rivalry or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves.

Psalm 10:4 ESV- In the pride of his face the wicked does not seek him; all his thoughts are, “There is no God.”

Proverbs 18:12 ESV- Before destruction a man's heart is haughty, but humility comes before honor.

Proverbs 26:12 ESV- Do you see a man who is wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

1 Peter 5:5 ESV- Likewise, you who are younger, be subject to the elders. Clothe yourselves, all of you, with humility toward one another, for “God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble.”

Galatians 6:4 ESV- But let each one test his own work, and then his reason to boast will be in himself alone and not in his neighbor.

1 Corinthians 13:4 ESV- Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant

Proverbs 21:4 ESV- Haughty eyes and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, are sin.

Psalm 59:12 ESV- For the sin of their mouths, the words of their lips, let them be trapped in their pride. For the cursing and lies that they utter,

Luke 18:9-14 ESV- He also told this parable to some who trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and treated others with contempt: “Two men went up into the temple to pray, one a Pharisee and the other a tax collector. The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector. I fast twice a week; I give tithes of all that I get.’ But the tax collector, standing far off, would not even lift up his eyes to heaven, but beat his breast, saying, ‘God, be merciful to me, a sinner!’ …

Jeremiah 9:23 ESV- Thus says the Lord: “Let not the wise man boast in his wisdom, let not the mighty man boast in his might, let not the rich man boast in his riches,

Obadiah 1:3 ESV- The pride of your heart has deceived you, you who live in the clefts of the rock, in your lofty dwelling, who say in your heart, “Who will bring me down to the ground?”

Romans 12:3 ESV- For by the grace given to me I say to everyone among you not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the measure of faith that God has assigned.

Psalm 138:6 ESV- For though the Lord is high, he regards the lowly, but the haughty he knows from afar.

Pray daily and read the Bible, spend time listening to praise and worship and pray as often as you can throughout the day.

Start with a clear goal. Be specific. Why are you fasting?

Limit your how much tv you watch and what you watch. Get away from the normal distractions as much as possible and keep your heart and mind set on seeking God's face.
